During the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, America struggled to deal with problems resulting from its quick growth into a world industrial power.  Some of the problems facing the United States during this time period were related to working conditions, immigration, urbanization, big business, natural resources, government, and more.  Though the problems were plentiful, so were the men and women that were ready to work hard to make reforms and transform the United States.  These people, who had the public good in mind, are better known as Progressives.  They wanted to attack problems in society head on and make the nation better for everyone.
