Calculating the Prince Chart and Calculating the Probability of the Policy Being Accepted

After the estimates of issue position, power, and priority are made for each player, you can determine the probablity that the policy will be implemented. The steps for estimating this probability are illustrated in the following example, based on a proposed policy for a university to raise its tuition.

• Calculation 1: Issue Position Times Power Times Priority= Prince Score
• Calculation 2: Sum of All Positive Scores Plus 1/2 Neutral Scores
• Calculation 3: Sum of All Scores Ignoring Signs and Parentheses
• Calculation 4: Probability of Support = Calculation 2 Divided by Calculation 3
