New York Times v. U.S. : Decision
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of the the New York Times in this
case. By a 6-3 vote the Court determined that the government was not entitled to the injunctions against the papers. The President's claim of national security does not justify an injunction against the publication of the material in the absence of congressional authorization or direct, immediate, and irreparable damage to the Nation.
