Day 1         - Friday, September 28th

 

7:30am            Meet your deluxe motor coach (Wade Tours ~ Charter#13033 – Phone: 1-888-923-3269) and depart Proctor High School (1203 Hilton Avenue, Utica NY) for New York City. (240 miles ~ 4 ˝ hours w/o stops)

 

12:30pm          Group arrives in New York City and meet your local tour guide (Nancy Crampton – cell#917-515-1215) on Lexington Avenue in Spanish Harlem between 103rd and 106th and enjoy a quick lunch. ($10 cash will be handed out to use toward lunch)

 

1:30pm            Visit the Museum of the City of New York: Where the Past Informs the Future. The Museum of the City of New York celebrates and interprets the city, educating the public about its distinctive character, especially its heritage of diversity, opportunity, and perpetual transformation. Founded in 1923 as a private, nonprofit corporation, the Museum connects the past, present, and future of New York City. It serves the people of New York and visitors from around the world through exhibitions, school and public programs, publications, and collections.

Visit Harlem, Central Park, Lincoln Centre, Dakota Apartments, Museum Mile and more exciting places. Also drive by Central Park West, American Museum of Natural History, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Grant's Tomb, Apollo Theater, Harlem Market, Fifth Avenue and more.

 

Midtown Manhattan - Arguably the world's most valuable, busiest and most crowded pieces of real estate, Midtown Manhattan is what most visitors think of when they think of New York City. Home to some of the city's most iconic architecture, from Gothic to Post-Modern and from Beaux-Arts to Art Deco (lots of Art Deco). It's not difficult to understand why. Visit the Trinity Church/St Paul’s Chapel - the chapel plays a vital role in telling the 9/11 story. More than one million people visit annually to learn about the ministry that took place at the Chapel. Photos, cards, drawings, banners, flags, and other items sent to encourage rescue workers or as memorials can still be seen

 

3:45pm            Bus drop off at the 9/11 Memorial.

 

4:00pm            Stop at the World Trade Centre site – Ground Zero. Visit the 9/11 Memorial today. A national tribute of remembrance and honor to the men, women, and children killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993.

Note:               Access to the bus drop-off/pick-up zone at the 9/11 Memorial is available by advance reservation only. The New York City Department of Transportation has designated a 9/11 Memorial bus group drop-off/pick-up zone along the east curb of Trinity Place between Rector and Thames streets (see map below). Thames Street is located approximately one block from the Memorial.

A Visitor Services host will be stationed at Trinity Place and Thames Street, where passes to all group members will be distributed. Please be aware that a maximum of two buses can arrive per time slot. To ensure access for all groups who need to use this zone, please pick up and drop off expeditiously, and do not wait or park.

·         The Statue of Liberty – located on a 12 acre island, the statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of United States and is a universal symbol of freedom and democracy

·         Ellis Island – Opened on January 1st, 1892, Ellis Island became the nation’s premier federal immigration station. In operation until 1954, the station processed over 12 million immigrant steamship passengers. The main building was restored after 30 years of abandonment and opened as a museum on September 10th, 1990.
