Introduction
You are a doctor observing an individual who is
suspected of having a mental illness such as schizophrenia. Inability to focus or make decisions, difficulty
separating fantasy from reality, social avoidance, and emotional withdrawal are
some of the symptoms you noted while observing this individual. With symptoms such as these this individual
has great difficulty making and keeping friends, maintaining stable and
meaningful relationships, and keeping a steady job. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that
affects about 1/100 people in the
Task
You
will be creating a power point presentation using the steps of the PPA to research
schizophrenia, its causes, and possible treatments.
**
You will be working alone on this project
**
Your power point must have a minimum of 10 slides. One
slide introducing your project, one slide for each step of the PPA you address,
a slide containing some factoids about schizophrenia, and a slide for a
bibliography.
Have fun and good luck
with your mission!!!
Process
In order to create a power point presentation you
will be following the steps of the PPA outlined below. You will be able to view the PPA step by
clicking on the underlined word(s) below.
Each step of the PPA has a worksheet you must complete before creating
the slide.
1. Define the problem
(worksheet
1)
2. Gather evidence of
the problem (worksheet
2)
3. Identify the causes
of the problem (worksheet
3)
4. Evaluate (look at)
existing (current) public policies (worksheet
4)
5. Develop new policies
that could be used to solve the problem (worksheet
5)
6. Select the best
policy (solution) for the problem (worksheet
6)

Conclusion
As
a result of completing this webquest you should be able to define what
schizophrenia is along with its causes, effects, and treatments. You should also have gained the skills needed
to create and present a power point presentation.
