Introduction

       

          It is a very common among high school students to believe that the senior year, and especially the prom day, is the “last chance” for them to become sexually active before they start college.  This often results in unwanted pregnancies and expensive care

 

 

Task

You are one of the parents of a teenager in his/her senior year and you are very worried that your son/daughter may soon become sexually active and become a parent before he/she even graduates from high school.

 

 

 

The Process

 

You will be responsible for writing a 3-5 pages essay paper. You will also design a five minutes power point presentation which will include a minimum of ten slides

A) In order to complete your task, you have to use the TIPS PPA format. There for, you have to visit the hyperlinks given below. You have to follow the six steps of the format. * You will adhere to the (Public Policy Analyst) format. See Hyperlinks below.

 

1.     Define the problem: Way is it that teenage pregnancy is a problem?

2.     Gather evidence: Fine data, statistic, evidence that prove that teenage pregnancy is a social problem.

3.     Identify causes: Why is it that kids are sexually active and getting pregnant too early in live before thy even graduate from high school?

4.     Evaluate a policy: What does Evander Childs High School do to lower dropout rates due to teenage pregnancy?

5.     Develop solutions: come up with some source of rules and regulations to stop or prevent early pregnancy to lower drop out rates at your school.

6.      Select best solution: Explore the negative consequences of the many possible solutions to choose the best ones that will beneficiate your community.

B) Once you learned about the PPA format, you will have to visit the different web sites given in the Resources section below to gather information about your topic, which is “teenage pregnancy”  

C) Write your essay: Your essay should consist of 3-5-pages, have a well-organized structure, introduction, body and a conclusion. See rubrics below.

D) Make your power point presentation: Your presentation should last at list five minutes and it should include ten slides. See rubrics below.

The conclusion

After the completion of this project, you have proved that you master the use of the PPA method, as well as demonstrated full knowledge of the topic “Teen age pregnancy”. In the future, you will be asked to do a web quest on another social problem that affects the Evander Childs High school community.
