Smallpox Vaccination Complications

Introduction:  Some parents do not want their kids to be vaccinated before coming to school as required by the school authorities. The parents complain that their kids end up getting the disease. They also fear that during the vaccination process, AIDS may be transmitted to their kids through use of the needle.

The Principal has selected a group of students to deal with this problem. You are members of this group and will work on this problem. In other words, you should research into this problem and suggest to the parents what vaccine does to the body.

The Task:  Your objectives will be:

1.      Define antigen, antibody

2.      Explain that the immune response involves a specific response against a specific pathogen.

3.      Differentiate between natural and artificial immunity

4.      Define vaccination and describe how it provides immunity

5.      You have to correct the false thought that parents have, and prove to them that vaccination does not lead to AIDS.

The Process:  .   1.    Break into your groups

2.        Check on the hyperlink to conduct your research

FOLLOW THE PUBLIC ANALYST POLICY TO:

3.        Define the problem

4.        Gather evidence about the problem

5.        Identify causes of the problem

6.        Evaluate a policy concerned with the problem.

7.        Develop solutions to the problem

8.        Give the best solution to the problem.

9.        Write a 2-3 page paper on your research findings
