SUBJECT: HEALTH CAREERS - NURSE ASSIST PROGRAM

NOSOCOMIAL INFECTION DISEASE CONTROL

 

 

INTRODUCTION:

Each day hundreds of patients in hospitals all over the country contract infections which occur only in the hospital setting. The name given to these infections is NOSOCOMIAL. 

 

As a future health care provider you are mandated to promote health and reduce pain and suffering of your client/patient. Your role will be to developed methods of reducing these types of infection. You are the infection control person for the Center for Disease Control. Your recommendations will affect the health care delivery system of the nation. You must identify the social problem related to this condition and evaluate the public policies as well as suggest improvements that will benefit your clients and people all over the country.

 

 

TASK:

You will need to use the public Policy Analyst to evaluate the social problem of the spread Nosocomial infections in the hospitals of America.

 

  1. You will submit a paper of a minimum of 750 words or three type-written pages.
  2. You will also be prepared to give an oral presentation. (about five minutes) corresponding to the written report. You will present the social problem, give evidence of the problem using visuals that discuss public policies relating to the problem and suggest solutions. .
  3. You are to use the Internet to research your problem from the resources below and you should use printed materials as well.

 

 

PROCESS:

1: You will be divided into groups of FOUR. Each student in the group will have defined responsibilities to complete the “task.”

CONCLUSION:

You should have learned, from this web quest, that Nosocomial infections, in American hospitals is a major social problem. It affects the lives of thousands of people each year and may be fatal. New public policy is required to address this problem, however public policy is difficult to invent and implement. You have identified the problem, gathered the evidence and came up with suggestions for new public policy.

 

Our next web quest will be to investigate other in-hospital diseases and evaluate public policies related to them.
