Introduction: Welcome! As a newly hired Planned Parenthood Advocate, your first assignment has been to investigate why there is such a high incidence of teenage pregnancy in the Bronx.

Previous studies have shown that many teenagers have difficulty understanding how their body develops during puberty. In fact, it is believed that a lack of understanding of how they mature may be one of the underlying culprits behind the extreme increase of teenage pregnancies. Many teenagers are not using contraceptive methods and this has increased the number of teenage pregnancies impacting their ability to pursue their educational goals. The reluctance or inaccessibility of contraceptives amongst teenagers has also been directly linked to problems of STD’s and AIDS.

As an advocate, you will need to identify and solve the ongoing problem of teenage pregnancy. You will rely on your research in order to create a policy that will effectively address the problem. In order to accomplish your Web Quest, you will work closely with other members of the class by forming a team AND using a “Public Policy Analyst” web program.  Remember, this is your first opportunity to show your boss that you can do this assignment!
