U.S. Government Policy on Terrorism

 

Introduction

 

In the 21st century, the Policy of the United States is to counter international terrorism which has been a problem that has plagued the international community for decades. The U.S. Government policy is simple make no concessions, apply the rules of law and improve the capabilities of friendly governments to counter the threat they face, and apply pressure on state sponsored terrorism. As a country that has never been invaded or ravaged by war the aim of this policy is to show that we are not prepared for terrorism.

 

Task

 

As a member of the state departments public policy initiative group. You have been selected to join the joint terrorist task force. You have been advised to produce a blue print using the TIPS model on how to combat terrorism in the United States.

 

You have selected your own team of specialist (students); each group will work closely with the other group. Each group has an area of expertise: There will be 4 groups of which all will brief the teacher with the facts collated among the groups and submitted by the group member. The different areas of terrorism will be researched by these groups. The public policy initiative group on counterterrorism will inform the American people through a spokesman on Homeland Security.

 

Process

 

Examining the major terrorist group and the political implication they have for the United States and the international community. What counterterrorist strategy can we develop to offset the threat of terrorism? What specific countries and regions harbor terrorist.

Part I.

a. Students will define the vocabulary words using there textbooks or the internet links.

b. Students will exam how much can the United States protect themselves from terrorism

c. Students will write a report from news articles detailing if we as a country are prepared to combat terrorism at home.

 

Part II.

a. Students will Define the problem and find a solution by using the Public Policy Steps.

b. Team members will exchange information to keep all members briefed and up to date.

c. Each team will be assigned a task and a color to identify them
