A WEB QUEST
ON
IN-DOOR PULLUTION
K. BOYD BY
GRACE DODGE VOC H.S
Everyday our emergency rooms are filled with
young children who suffer from one or more respiratory ailments or sicknesses.
You will form groups of 5 and be prepared to
present a research report on the ills of poor quality in-door air and its
impact on the community. Each group will be assigned to complete one of the
following types of reports:
1.A written paper that is 10-12
pages long.
2.An oral presentation approximately 10 minutes
long.
3. A power point presentation of
about 4-6 slides. Each
slide
should contain one of
the
principles of the Public
policy
Analyst format,(e.g.)
Gathering
the evidence, defining
the
social problem.
Be prepared for a “question and answer period”
at the end of your project. You must explain the social problem and its impact upon
the community.
All groups should utilize the work sheets of the
Public Policy
Analyst (PPA) to enhance your project.
You should utilize the following media; the
public library, newspapers, journals, magazines and the Internet to assist your
research.
At the end of your project each group will work
cooperatively to present your project.
You will designate one person in your group to
lead the presentation.
Each group will present one part of the project
You should select two areas to demonstrate how
toxins contribute to the demise of the residents in the community.
You should collect pictures, graphs, and
statistics to show how this social problem impacts on the community.
Using the PPA guidelines below, each group will
complete all the following work sheets. You will use this information in
preparing your report and Power point. Use the PPA website for vital
definitions and information
www.maxwell.syr.edu/plegal/tips.html
2. You should include these public policy analyst questions
in your task.
(a) Are the present policies effectively
controlling in-door pollutants?
(b) How do these policies benefit and help the residents of the community?
3. Each group will present one major
policy change in the report by selecting the “best solution”.
4: You will use the Internet sources below and
other outside materials to complete the
worksheets and the task.
