You are a black child living during 1952 period of school segregation. There is a school within two blocks from where you live and it is for white students. The school twenty or more blocks away from your house is for blacks and it is not equal to the white school.. You would like to go to the school near your home. What possible problems would you face in going to this school in the 1950’s.
You will be broken up into group of twos.
1. Researcher will do a CompuLegal research of the Brown vs. Board of
Education. Go to the websites to explain
segregation.
2. Recorder to record information, putting it
into an essay or composition.
3. Read the
case of Brown vs. Board of Education using the website as well as other sources
to enable you to understand and form a conclusion.
You
will also review the Tenth and Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution.
You
will create a report agreeing or disagreeing with the case. The opinions of the students will be
supported with facts.
You
will also role play the case.
PROCESS
1.
Give an opinion after looking at the Plessy case
visual.
2.
Look at the Brown vs. Board of Education case. Give an opinion of that case.
3.
What is the difference between the two cases?
4.
Using the visual below, do a CompuLegal of
the Plessy case.
5.
Using the visual below, do a CompuLegal of
the Brown vs. Board of Education.
6.
Give a one page report on each of the cases.
7.
Give an oral presentation in front of the class in groups of twos.
