When you are accused …

 

 

Introduction:

You used to know them as Jay-Z and Puff Daddy the rappers but lately they have become Sean Carter and Sean Combs the defendants.  Sean Combs had his day and court and was cleared of all charges.  Sean Carter’s trial has yet to begin but when it does he faces a multitude of charges stemming from a recent incident in a night club.  How did Combs get off?  What’s in store for Carter?  You don’t have to be a lawyer to figure it out, you just have to complete this web quest!

 

Task: 

In your groups of three complete the following:

As a group decide which case you will research (Combs of Carter)

either

Combs

What are the facts of the case?

What are the charges against Combs?

What rights did Combs have when he was accused?

What Supreme Court decisions gave him these rights?

Why was Combs proven innocent? 

or

Carter

What are the facts of the case?

What are the charges against Carter?

What Rights did Carter have when he was accused?

What Supreme Court decisions gave him these rights?

Based on your research predict the outcome of the trial (include an explanation)

then

·        Type the answers to each question on Microsoft Word.  This will be handed in.

·        Create a PowerPoint presentation where you present your findings in front of your classmates.  Everyone in each group must participate.
