Introduction

Many eighth grade students do not eat school lunch.  They tend to stand on line to grab the dessert or fruit provided and the milk, but throw the meal in the garbage without hesitation. These students often do not eat breakfast before they come to school, and opt to wait until they are dismissed from school to purchase something to eat.  Meanwhile, on a daily basis there is an abundance of food being wasted and the lunch staff has become frustrated.

Task

As a team of supervisors you will have to encourage these eighth grade students to eat their lunch, and stop throwing it away.  You will work in groups to research nutrition, develop a survey, design a menu, and write a letter that will encourage the eighth grade students to eat school lunch.

Process

Each team of four supervisors will be assigned to satisfy one of the tasks.

1.      Team number one will research nutrition- the four basic food groups.
