Strategies for Achieving Strategy Goals

3. Change the power of yourself and other players.

Power comes from a variety of sources, including:

  • Appointed or elected position in the policy-making process
  • Wealth
  • Organizational size and cohesion
  • Reputation for knowledge
  • Number and importance of friends and enemies

Increasing the power of your allies and decreasing the power of your opponents take a long time and a great deal of work. However, there may be no other choice. Remember, you obtain maximum results from power strategies if you direct them at players with firm positions and high priority.
