INTRODUCTION:
After
Reconstruction, the rights of African Americans in the South slowly began to
change. Jim Crow laws became the law of
the land. Jim Crow laws were laws which
effectively enforced segregation. The
battle for equality became a major issue in the late 1800s
and 1900s.
You have been
chosen to create a DVD box celebrating the civil rights movement. Assume that you are creating a movie about
the life of an individual or the history of a particular civil rights
movement. You will need to find pictures
of relevant information about the topic you choose. Each DVD cover must contain a written
explanation on the back with at least 3 pictures on the front and back. Don’t forget to give your movie a name.
TASK:
You and your
group will examine the policy of segregation and the effects that this policy
had on the nation. You will study its
origins and some of the court cases that have had an impact on this
policy. You will come up with a title
for your study, which will be the title of the movie. You and your group will create a DVD cover
with a short written piece summarizing the information that you have found and
pictures.
Listed below
are a few topics that you may choose from.
Your project does not have to be limited to the list.
