SURGE IN GASOLINE PRICES

INTRODUCTION

 

The price of gasoline in New York State has reached an all time high.  Our supply is being depleted and the demand is growing.  Higher prices are threatening a way of life in America and leading to inflationary pressures for businesses reliant on fuel such as airlines and other transportation companies. These costs are being passed along to other consumers. You were chosen to work on The Energy Committee for Westchester County, to investigate the problem and find ways to keep prices and waste down. You will think of ways to increase conservation efforts and rely and find other sources of energy

 

 

TASK

 

You will work in groups of three and write a paper on the causes of rising prices in gasoline. You will research different ways to conserve gasoline. After you research conservation measures, you will make a pamphlet encouraging people to reduce the amount of gasoline used.

 

 

PROCESS

 

                        Your committee will consist of three students. Your report will follow the format of the Science Public Policy Analyst developed at Syracuse University.             There are many different opinions as to ways to conserve our resources.  After completing this project, it should make us more aware of the need to use our natural resources more wisely. Your report will help people understand why it is important to conserve resources and to try to be more creative in conserving them.
