Times are tough in the
Although you are only a teenager, you
have spent several years in search of work. As you go out in search of work and
food you often ask yourself questions, such as:
How did this happen to us?
lasted as long as it has?
Will it ever end?
This was the life of many
children during the Great Depression. Your job is to find the answers to these
questions to provide this child with some peace of mind.
Your task is to write a three page paper
discussing the Great Depression. The paper should include the causes of the
depression, as well as the aspects of the New Deal that helped to economically
revive the country. You will also use poster board to create a collage using
images that depict life during this time. Your poster should have a title that
expresses the theme of your images.
You will research the Great Depression using
the internet, your textbook, notes, and any other resources that you can find.
You will use this research to complete the steps of the American History Public
Policy Analyst (AHPPA)
. These steps will help you to identify the causes of the Great Depression, as
well as the aspects of the New Deal that helped the country to recover. The
steps are listed below.
2. Gather your evidence
for the problem
3. Determining the
cause of the problem
After completing the AHPPA you will submit
the completed forms to me for approval before beginning work on your paper.
Listed below are some links to assist you in your task. You may also
use your textbook and other sources of information. Be sure to give credit to
any sources of information that you use.

The collage was put
together sloppily. Items appear to be just "slapped on". Pieces may
be loose or hanging over the edges. Smudges, stains, rips, uneven edges,
and/or stray marks are evident. |

One or two of the
graphics or objects used in the collage reflect student creativity in their
creation and/or display. |
One or two graphics
or objects were made or customized by the student, but the ideas were typical

to a drawing in Photoshop). |
The student did not
make or customize any of the items on the collage. |

some items in front and others behind. The canvas, however does not appear

Graphics have been
trimmed to an appropriate size and shape, but the arrangement of items is not
very attractive. It appears there was not a lot of planning of the item
placement. |
Graphics are
untrimmed OR of inappropriate size and/or shape. It appears little attention
was given to designing the collage. |

Once you have completed this project, you will
understand the social and economic policies that contributed to the worst
financial period in the history of our nation. Remember, one of the most
important things about history is that we learn from our mistakes, so that we
don’t repeat them.
