Getting Started with Prezi

CREATE AN ACCOUNT

· Go to prezi.com

· If you do not already have an account, click on the “Get Started” link

· Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Educational licenses” link

· Click on the “Edu Enjoy” free, “Continue” link

· Enter your email address and click on “Verify”

· Create a password and log in

· You may have to go to your email to verify your account

· Once you are registered, you will be able to access your Prezis online anywhere

YOUR PREZI HOME

· Once you are all set up you will go to your main Prezi page where all the Prezis you create will be stored (online)

· You can create folders and arrange your Prezis into separate folders

· From this page you can access tips, tutorials and sample Prezis by clicking on the “Learn and Support” and “Explore” buttons

STARTING A PREZI

· Click on the “New Prezi” icon

· You can choose from a template or click on “Start Blank Prezi” to get started

· A new canvas will load (or a canvas with the template you chose) and you can get started.

WORKING IN PREZI

INSERTING

· You can add all your content (text, images, videos, hyperlinks, symbols) to the canvas using the insert menu

· If you click on the Title text box, you can add your title and special features to the text

· You can group and edit your content

FRAMES

· Frame your content by inserting frames around groups of similar content

· You can add new frames by clicking on the icon at the top left (above the paths)

· You can change the frame shape or choose no shape to contain your text/objects

MOTION PATH

· Connect your frames in a motion path using the “edit path” button

· Position your frames on the canvas

· The information in the left vertical section is your motion path

· This can always be edited to change the path (via the “Edit Path” button at the bottom left), or add or delete pathways

· Transitions and animation can be added from the “Edit Path” section

· For transitions keep in mind: 1)proximity, 2)rotation, and 3)zoom and scale

OTHER FEATURES

· You can zoom in with the mouse roller to work inside specific areas on your canvas or click on that area and select “zoom to frame”

· The undo button at the top left will come in handy

· If you click the Customize icon you will be presented with different themes for your background, click one to see what it will look like and you can always go back to your original theme

SAVING, PRESENTING, and EXITING

· Your Prezi will save automatically, but there is also a save icon at the top

· To see how your Prezi looks/works, click on the “Present” button at the top

· When you are finished working on it, you can click the “Exit” button and you will be taken back to your main Prezi account page

SHARING

When you click on one of your Prezis it will open a new screen with options

· You can download your Prezi but it is a large file

· You can present remotely by emailing a link to your Prezi

· Save a copy will make a duplicate of that Prezi

· Embed will give you the code for pasting it into a blog or website

· Share will create a website address for that Prezi to be shared publicly

· Please make sure you sent privacy Level to “PUBLIC” and click the box for “Allow public reuse and held spread ideas.”

· The trash can icon will delete your Prezi

· To work on your Prezi again, just click the “Edit” button

· You can also rename your Prezi and add comments
