Introduction:
It has come to our attention that some students are
not doing their homework on a regular basis.
This is a serious problem in our school because students are failing due
to not handing in their homework. We
need to increase the number of students that hand in homework.
Congratulations! Your class has been selected to
develop strategies to encourage students to complete their homework.
Task:
You will work in groups of 5 to create a poster that will teach your fellow students strategies to complete their homework. You will also create a 5 question survey that will assess how well students have remembered the strategies.
Process:
(Use the Steps of the PPA to complete your task)
1. Conduct a quick poll on how many
students have handed in homework in the last three days.
2. Data about the importance of homework.
Why Students May not Complete Homework
Brainstorm in your groups
· What are some reasons why students don’t hand in homework?
· What do your teachers do to encourage students to hand in their homework?
· Does it work?
Select the Best Solution (Feasibility vs. Effectiveness)
· After evaluating different ways to encourage students to do their homework, work with your group to decide which method is most effective.
· Be prepared to explain your choice.
