Introduction:

You have been asked by the governor of New York State to investigate the benefits and risks of hydrofracking as a source of energy.  You must use reliable resources, including websites that will assist in your research.  You will then present your findings to members of your community and convince them that either hydrofracking is a positive energy source or that it is detrimental to the environment and should be terminated.

Task:

1.      Using approved websites gather information on hydrofracking.

2.      Write a 1-2 page essay summarizing the procedure of hydrofracking and consequent effects, positive and negative.

3.      Present your findings to the class and attempt to convince your community members (classmates) to agree with your opinion about hydrofracking.

Process:

1.       Use the PPA steps to complete your assignment

The PPA Steps:

2.      Evaluate all information gathered and recorded on your PPA worksheets and write a rough draft of your 1-2 page summary.

3.      Submit rough draft to instructor.

4.      Make revisions and write final paper.

5.      Make notecards and visual aids for your oral presentation.

6.      Present investigation results to class.
