Introduction:       Examine the social problems in Ancient China, such as, the role of women and men, and the inequality that exists amongst the social classes. You may want to examine the 5 Relationships, Confucianism, China’s One Child Policy and the practice of Buddhism. The social problems in China today are directly related to the social problems of the past. China has a history of limited public participation. This is reflected in the blatant violation of human rights recognized by the international community, a Communist government with no transparency, and one of the highest suicide rates amongst women in the world. China’s One Child Policy is an intrusive means to controlling the population. This history is creating serious problems for the Chinese people today.

Task:     You will be submitting a three (3) page research paper on your evaluation of the social problems that exist in Ancient China. Make sure to clearly address the social problems (i.e., boys favored more than girls) in your introduction and identify the causes of these social problems, as well as, evaluating the policies or individuals which bring about these social problems in your body paragraphs. In your conclusion, make sure to propose solutions to these issues. Write clearly and concisely.

Process/Resources:    You are responsible for collecting at least three (3) scholarly resources. The research paper should include an introduction, several body paragraphs, a conclusion, and a bibliography (the scholarly resources used). The paper should be written under the MLA framework. All outside resources need to be cited either in the body of the paper or footnoted. Pictures may be included in the title or cover page. It may also be included at the end of the paper.
