Introduction:

Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. How could I help stop bullying in my school?

Task:

St. Aloysius is considered to be a bully-free school but bullying still takes place. You and your partner will come up with a poster that will be placed around the school to remind students that bullying isn’t tolerated.

Process/Resources:

Your poster should clearly state the “zero tolerance” bullying rules at the school in an interesting and eye-catching way!

I will first explain the PPA steps for you and then explain the WebQuest. After explaining the PPAs, I will break you into groups of two to use the websites and information given to you.

Steps of the PPA:

1.      Define the Problem

2.      Gather Evidence

3.      Identify the Causes

4.      Evaluate an Existing Policy

5.      Develop Solutions

6.      Select the Best Solutions

Bullying Websites

·         US Government page on bullying

·         Bullying Prevention- Sesame Street

·         Brain Pop Jr.- Bullying video

·         Kids Against Bullying

Conclusion:

By creating the posters and going onto the websites listed, students will understand the seriousness and dangers that come with bullying someone. These posters will also help put an end to bullying in the school. By using the PPAs, students will become literate in identifying a problem, providing research, coming up with a solution for a problem, and implementing a new policy.
