Introduction:

Just as you live in a community in Brooklyn, New York, animals and other living things live in communities all over the world.  As Brooklynites we adapt to everyday changes, such as train or bus schedule changes, weather changes, school schedule changes.  As humans we easily adapt to changing environments. However, it's not so easy for all other living things and their changing communities.

Our World Communities are called Biomes. We have five Major Biomes.

Aquatic

desert

Deserts

forests

Forests

grassland

Grasslands

tundra

Global Warming: The recent increase in the world's temperature that is believed to be caused by the increase of certain gases (such as carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere.

Task:

You will create a Power Point Presentation on The Global Warming effects on a Biome.

Groups Assigned to Biomes (Use the links above to research  the effects)

Follow the Web quest to research

        Biomes

        Global Warming

        Solutions

The Process:

Each Biome is being affected due to human activity. This human activity such as using cars, use of power plants and pollution cause this extra gas in our atmosphere.

The following links will help you organize your information for your Power Point.

The PPA

1.   Define the Problem

2.   Gather Evidence

3.   Identify the Causes

4.   Evaluate an Existing Policy

5.   Develop Solutions

Test your knowledge on Global Warming by taking this quiz below.

Graphics Sources

Graphics are hand-drawn. The illustrator(s) are given credit somewhere in the presentation.

All content throughout the presentation is accurate. There are no factual errors.

Most of the content is accurate but there is one piece of information that might be inaccurate.

The content is generally accurate, but one piece of information is clearly flawed or inaccurate.

Content is typically confusing or contains more than one factual error.

Sequencing of Information

Information is organized in a clear, logical way. It is easy to anticipate the type of material that might be on the next card.

Most information is organized in a clear, logical way. One card or item of information seems out of place.

Some information is logically sequenced. An occasional card or item of information seems out of place.

There is no clear plan for the organization of information.

Use of Graphics

All graphics are attractive (size and colors) and support the theme/content of the presentation.

A few graphics are not attractive but all support the theme/content of the presentation.

Conclusion:

As a result of this project you will have a better understanding of how our actions as humans can affect our communities whether it be where we live or where other animals and living things reside. You will research Biomes, global warming, the causes of global warming and the effects on the Biomes. All your findings will be presented in a Power Point Presentation.
