INTRODUCTION

What is happening to our weather and temperature changes in NY? What is causing this unusual high temperature, heavy rainfalls, flooding and lack of snow? These temperature changes can be associated with Global Warming. Climate change (or global warming), is the process of our planet heating up. Scientists estimate that since the Industrial Revolution, human activity has caused the Earth to warm by approximately 1°C. While that might not sound like much, it means big things for people and wildlife around the globe.  Greenhouse gasses are trapping more heat in the Earth's atmosphere, which is causing average temperatures to rise in NY and all over the world.

TASK

Our planet needs you! Along with your partner, you will research why there is climate change in NY and how it's impacting our weather. What changes can we make to reverse the effects and protect ourselves?

By the end of the research, you and your partner will create a flipgrid/Slides or Storyboard That using your research.

PROCESS/RESOURCES

Using the PPA Process, you will follow the six steps to solving the problem of the Impact of Global Warming and Climate Change in NY. The six steps of the PPA Process are: define the problem, gather the evidence, identify the cause, evaluate the existing policy, develop a solution, select the best solution.

4.   Day 5: Evaluate the Existing Policy

Now that we know more about Global Warming and Climate Change and what is causing them, the human implant.

Get ready to  use the link below to read more about some policies that have been put in place.

With your partner, gather evidence by Watching, Learning, reading and discussing What are the causes and effects of Greenhouse Effect, Global Warming and Climate Change?

Day 6: Develop A Solution

With your partner, you will create a Flipgrid informing others about what are some solutions to global warming and climate change. What can humans do now? Ways NY and NYC are protecting Themselves from the Effects of Global Warming and Climate Change. Remember to use the information from the resources that you learned about during your research.

CONCLUSION

In this unit, we learned about the Impact of Global Warming and Climate Change in NY.  Let us reflect on what we have learned through these questions:

      * What is the Greenhouse effect, Global Warming and Climate Change?

     * What are the causes, effects and protective measures already taken to stop or lessen global warming and climate change?

     * What are new solutions to Global Warming and Climate Change?
