Introduction:
We see it every day.

Our friends are giving up because they feel they “CAN’T” do something.
Our friends get angry because things aren’t going the way they expected.

Some even express their anger through harsh words and actions.

We all know this is not a way to solve problems.
Let’s get together to help create a more RESILIENT school community!

 

 

Tasks:

Time will be provided to practice presentations.

You will research ONE growth mindset concept.

You will create a 3-question survey about how students act in difficult situations.

You will create a 3-question survey about how teachers encourage their students in difficult situations.

As a team you will write a letter to other classrooms persuading them to use the growth mindset concept (you researched) during tough times.

You will create a poster that will be hung up at a designated place in the school hallways to convince others to have a growth mindset as well!

 

    (Persistence, Flexibility, Empathy, Assertiveness, Optimism, Confidence)

You will ask these questions to students in a different classroom.

  1. ASK WHAT CAUSES these problems in our school community. Why do students give up?
                ~Create a 3-question survey about what students do when they feel they CAN’T accomplish something.
    Be prepared to visit other classrooms to ask your questions and take notes.
  2. RESEARCH the EXISTING POLICY.
                ~Create a 3-question survey for TEACHERS of other classrooms to find out what they do when students 
                give up in their class.
  3. Generate ideas of HOW you can HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM.
                ~How can you convince students to use the growth mindset you researched?
                (Letter and poster)
                ~Teach through experience: What do you do when you face challenges?
                ~Visualize: How can you show them to follow these growth mindset concepts?

You persuaded them to try these ideas too!

You left reminders (posters) all over the school so you can teach and persuade more of your peers to be Brain Growers too!
