INTRODUCTIONAt PS62 we must prepare our students for success in a connected world. The problem is that many students do not know how to be responsible with devices. Your job is to be a PS62 advocate and teach other students what it means to be a Good Digital Citizen.

In this WebQuest, using the Public Policy Analyst (PPA) you will be solving the problem of how students can be responsible with devices. You will watch videos and take notes using a graphic organizer with a partner.
This WebQuest should take 5-6 class periods.
During the last two class periods you will create a ScratchJr project on your iPad designing and coding an interactive story that describes the role of a digital citizen at PS62. You can use images, speech bubbles and recorded sound to complete this project. You will have a rubric to refer to.

1. First, discuss the problem as a whole class on Slide 1. 2. Next, you will look at and analyze data on Slides 3-7 3. Next, you will Identify the Causes of the problem Slide 8. 4. Next, you will look at NYC Schools current policies for being a digital citizen on Slide 10. 5. With a partner on slides 10-14 view each video and develop solutions by filling out the Graphic organizers linked on each slide. 6. Slide 14 describes your task to create and code a PS62 Digital Citizen. a. What does he/she look like? b. What does a Good Digital Citizen do or say? c. How does a Good Digital Citizen act? 7. EVALUATION
In this WebQuest, you had the opportunity to learn about the skills someone needs to be a good digital citizen. You watched videos, took notes and then created a fun ScratchJr project to help teach others about digital citizenship.

Students recognize the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of living, learning, and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical. Students:
a. Cultivate and manage their digital identity and reputation and are aware of the permanence of their actions in the digital world.
b. Engage in positive, safe, legal, and ethical behavior when using technology, including social interactions online or when using networked devices.
c. Demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the rights and obligations of using and sharing intellectual property.
d. Manage their personal data to maintain digital privacy and security and are aware of data-collection technology used to track their navigation online.
