INTRODUCTION:

 

Today, all of our friends will listen to the story, Llama Llama Misses Mama. Then, we will work together, to figure out how we can make ourselves feel better if we are sad after our grown ups drop us off at school.

 

TASK:

1.     You will draw a picture of one way that you can make yourself feel better if you feel sad after your grown up drops you off at school.

2.     You will put on a puppet show with your friends and act out how you can make yourself feel better if you feel sad after your grown up drops you off at school.

-         You can use your drawing to help you!

 

PROCESS:

1.     We will listen to the story, Llama Llama Misses Mama.

2.     Then, we will have a class discussion about the story. We will identify the characters, the setting, the problem and the solution.

3.     Next, we will discuss different ways or different strategies we can use at school to make ourselves feel better if you feel sad after a grown up drops you off at school

-         Student responses will be recorded on chart paper.

4.     After, you will draw a picture of one way or one strategy you would use if you felt sad after your grown up dropped you off at school.

-         Make sure to include a lot of detail in your drawing. Things like: people, centers in our classroom, and any tools you might use to feel better.

5.     Lastly, you will work with a friend to put on a puppet show. During this puppet show you will act as a friend who is upset after their grown up dropped them off at school. Then, you need to use one strategy to help them feel better! You can use your drawing to help you!

-         Make sure to participate and use your vocabulary words!

At the end of this project, you will learn strategies that you can use to make yourself feel better if you are upset after your grown up drops you off at school.
