Introduction-

Would you allow any of the above animals to share your home?

Do you think your habitat 1 can provide EVERYTHING an animal from the wild would need to thrive and survive?

Would you be upset if you never heard a bird chirp in the morning?

As meteorologists, we have been working to identify the best habitat for the orangutans. We have taken on this task to support the safety, survival, and population of the orangutans since you all have done so well with identifying and applying strong and relevant evidence to connect the orangutans with the correct habitat. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has tasked you with helping them save our wildlife 2.

Our four-legged, winged, and water members of society are losing their habitats. Each member of society has a purpose. Right now, it is our turn to support our animal comrades. If we wait too long, the things in nature we love will disappear, and we may not be able to get them back. ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

Task-

For this assignment, you will work collaboratively to raise awareness about what is happening to animals and plants around us. Through your research, you will identify what we can do as a school community to support plant and animal habitats.  Finally, we will share this information with other schools (through a google slide presentation) to gain more support and significantly contribute to our animal and plant community.

Process-

Using the PPA Process, you will follow the six steps to solving the problem the declining animal and plant habitats.

The six steps of the PPA Process are:

        define the problem

       gather the evidence

       identify the cause

        evaluate the existing policy

        develop a solution

        select the best solution

Step One:

You will be placed in groups of four to complete the PPA process. You will use the provided worksheets (linked above) to help gather and keep track of the information you collect. EACH member will pick a specific role by picking the roles from a bag. You get what you get, and you don't get upset.

The roles and responsibilities are as follows:

Leader- The Leader is responsible for organizing the group. You will make sure that deadlines are met and keep everyone on task. You will also support other group members.

Recorder- The Recorder takes notes and keeps track of everything the group does. This person is responsible for keeping track of any papers and information for the group.

Speaker/ Presenter-The speaker is the one who will be in charge if any of the presentations is done orally.  They will be the person that asks for help and helps gather materials.

Researcher-The speaker is the one who will be in charge if any of the presentations is done orally.  They will be the person that asks for help and helps gather materials.

**All group members are required to contribute to the completion of the worksheets AND the completion and presentation of the slides.**

STEP 2:

Along with the information from your research, follow the Public Policy Analyst (PPA) 6-Step Process. Complete the worksheets and allow them to guide you with your slide presentation and flip grid.

STEP 3:

This project will be completed over the course of 6 weeks. EACH week you will focus on different PPA process and complete the corresponding paperwork.

Conclusion-

Students have conducted research by reading books/articles and watching videos to find out the answers to the questions in the PPA. Student groups collaborated to create and present a visual display to clarify or support ideas, thoughts, and or feelings.
