Disruptive Behavior in Classrooms

J. Cannon

I.S. 126

Introduction

A student who intentionally creates a disturbance in class that directly interferes with the teacher’s ability to instruct the class and with other students’ ability to learn is considered disruptive.  Disruptive behavior can have negative effects on not only the classroom environment, but also on the school experience as a whole.

Task

You will write a letter to your classmates explaining how disruptive behavior in class interferes with:

1. The teacher’s ability to instruct the class

2. The class’ ability to learn

3. The classroom environment

4. The school environment as a whole

Process/Resources

You will work with a partner to develop a letter for your classmates to read.  Your letter should explain how disruptive behavior is negative in the classroom.

You will be using the PPA (Public Policy Analyst) method to gather evidence to enhance your writing.  I have given you the problem already, so you only have to do steps 2-6 with your partner.
