Student/Youth Due Process Rights

• Lesson 1: How should juveniles who violate the law be treated?

  Objective: Introduce students to early treatment of youth in the U.S.

• Lesson 2: Should a juvenile have the same due process rights as an adult?

  Objective: Familiarize students with the legal procedures for youths.

• Lesson 3: How much freedom of expression should students have in the school environment?

  Objective: Teach students about the rights of students.

• Lesson 4: Should a student have a right to a hearing before being suspended?

  Objective: Teach students about student due process rights.

• Lesson 5: Should schools have the right to engage in corporal punishment?

  Objective: Teach students about the 8th Amendment and the Project LEGAL method.

• Lesson 6: What rights do students possess under the Fourth Amendment?

  Objective: Teach students about the admissibility of evidence and the different circles of authority .

• Lesson 7: Should students have the right to dress as they want?

  Objective: Show students the conflicting values within schools.

• Lesson 8: How is a portfolio demonstrating multiple intelligences prepared for a unit on student/youth due process rights?

  Objective: Make sure students are familiar with the rights of youths and students in public schools.
