Project CRITICAL Extension
Year: Information Sheet
If you have participated in a prior year of Project CRITICAL and
if you have completed (or will complete by May 1st) all the required products,
then you are eligible to apply for the extension year of Project CRITICAL
(2022-23).
As a former teacher in our five-year Javits Gifted project, you
have an opportunity to apply to participate in our likely one-year
extension. Due to COVID, we did not expend all our funds over the
five years, so we anticipate applying for and obtaining a one-year
extension.
This notice is being sent to all teachers who completed their year
of participation. We will select 25 from among those who
apply. Preference will be given to those who complete all 3 of the
products—one PowerPoint and 2 WebQuests and have them posted on the Products
page as shown below by May 1, so you have more than 2 months to work on
developing and completing those products, including making any revisions
suggested by Joe Montecalvo, Art Fortin, Norm Harris or me. If you do not
recall which staff developer was your primary contact—Art or Norm, send it to
both.
If you want to submit your unfinished WebQuest using google docs,
then please share with us (emails below) when you begin. This will allow
us to make any comments so that you are moving in the right direction.
In Google Docs, make sure you "Share" with editing
privileges to:
mrjajcarro@gmail.com
jmonteca@gmail.com
arthurfortin@gmail.com
normharris1940@gmail.com
The PD will focus on mostly new presentations, following a review
of our Public Policy Analysist (PPA). There will be new
presentations by Professor Catherine Box (English Learners’ Strategies) and Dr.
Heather Pinedo-Burns (gifted strategies) All PD will
be done on zoom, 4—6 pm or 4—7 pm and some may be held in late August depending
on when we officially receive approval of our extension. You will be
paid at the rate of $54/hour for up to 48 hours, and you will also be required
to develop and submit 3 new products—a PowerPoint and 2 WebQuests.
If you can attend all workshops and commit to creating three new
products, then please complete the online
Teacher Application.
