Renaissance
Newspaper
Directions:
The
Renaissance occurred from 1450-1650 in Italy.
The printing press invented by Johannes Gutenberg in 1440
made the price of books cheaper as well as written material more readily
available. The main form of entertainment
for people during this time period is reading the Holy Bible as it is the most
reproduced book since the invention of the printing press. However, there is no publication that brings
news and information to the people as well as entertainment. It is your job to create a newspaper using
Microsoft office publisher that provides the people of Italy with information
as well as entertainment during the Renaissance.
Problem:
Italy does not have
a newspaper to provide people with information during the Renaissance.
Task:
In order to effectively complete this
project you must include the following areas in your newspaper:
·
Front Page: On the front
page there should be information about politics, religion and major events that
are happening at this time period. There
should also be a main headline that grabs the reader’s attention along with a
table of contents that will tell me on what pages of the newspaper I can find
different types of information. (Insert

·
Entertainment: In this section
you will find the following items:
1.
Food
review of a local restaurant and its cuisine.
2.
Theater
review of the play “Romeo and Juliet”
3.
Art
review (Of the Sistine Chapel, the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper and Madonna and
Child)
*** All
information in this section must have its basis from fact. Names of restaurants and people can be
fictional. *** (Insert Pictures)
·
Sports: In this section
you will talk about a recent match in any of the sporting events that took
place during the renaissance. Describe
the game by creating fictional team names (City’s in Italy) and describing how
one of the teams won the game. (Insert
Pictures)
·
Obituaries: In this section
I would like you to write obituaries for the following influential people of
the Renaissance: (Include their accomplishments as well as how they died)
1.
Leonardo
da Vinci
2.
Johann
Gutenberg
3.
Niccolo
Machiavelli
4.

5.
