The Facts Scheidler v. N.O.W.:
 In 1986 the National Organization of Women sued PLAN, a coalition of antiabortion groups under the RICO act (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act). PLAN coordinated actions directed against abortion clinics in the hope of preventing women from having abortions. NOW contended that PLAN engaged in a nationwide conspiracy to shut down abortion clinics through a pattern of racketeering activity that included acts of extortion.
