The Facts of Miranda v. Arizona:
In 1963 in Arizona, Ernesto Miranda was arrested for kidnapping and rape. He was interrogated without any warnings of his right to counsel and to remain silent. He signed a confession which led to his conviction. Miranda's lawyers claimed that Miranda's Fifth Amendment righst were violated because the police did not advise him of his rights against self-incrimination.
