The Goss v. Lopez Decision:
The Court ruled 5-4 that, "the state is constrained to recognize a student's legitimate entitlements to a public education as a property interest which is protected by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment and which cannot be taken away for misconduct without adherence to the minimum procedures required by the clause."
