Lee v. Weisman: Arguments

Argument #1

The Court should rule in favor of the school in this case. Graduation prayers have a long tradition in this country. They add to the solemnity of the occasion and a majority of the participants approve of them.


Argument #2

The Court should rule in favor of the students and parents who opposed the graduation prayer. Just as the Supreme Court ruled that prayers in schools are unconstitutional, so should they rule that graduation prayers violate the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.
