In FEINER v. NEW YORK 340, U.S., 315 (1951), the U.S. Supreme Court ruled
6-3 that Feiner was guilty of disorderly conduct. The majority reasoned
that Feiner's actions created the danger of a riot or disturbance
occurring. The minority believed that the police had a clear
obligation to protect Feiner's right to speak.
